The Mini CooperΓÇÖs MKII body was replaced by the MKIII in 1970, however in 1971 production of the Mini Cooper was dropped as a part of a 'rationalisation' program.
January 1976 and Mini became the first manufacturer to ever produce a Special Edition ΓÇö the 1000 Special. This was a wild combination of orange striped seats, and safari carpets.
Mini's 20th birthday was celebrated in 1979 with the 1100 Special in silver grey and metallic pink and the City 850 hit the streets.
